Privacy Policy
YT Focus Mode · Last updated June 2026What data is collected
None. YT Focus Mode does not collect any personal data, usage data, browsing history, or any other information about you.
What the extension does store
The only thing YT Focus Mode saves is your toggle preferences — whether you have Shorts blocked, the sidebar hidden, and so on. These settings are stored using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.sync API, which means they sync across your own Chrome devices if you're signed into Chrome. They never leave Chrome's own sync infrastructure and are never sent to any server I own or operate.
Third parties
There are none. YT Focus Mode does not use analytics, advertising networks, crash reporting services, or any external APIs. It runs entirely in your browser with no outbound connections of its own.
Permissions explained
The extension requests the following Chrome permissions:
- storage — to save your toggle settings locally and across your own Chrome devices
- scripting — to run the content script that modifies YouTube's page layout
- activeTab — to read the session timer from the current YouTube tab when you open the popup
None of these permissions are used to collect or transmit data.
Children's privacy
This extension is a general-purpose browser tool. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If anything here ever changes, the updated date at the top of this page will reflect that. Since there's nothing to change about "we collect no data," that's unlikely to happen.
